CDS was founded in Anchorage, Alaska in February 2015 by Joshua Williamson, Billy Herbst and Adam Kimball. The original members recorded the band’s first EP, Riviera Days, the following summer. The EP was released in December of the same year to praise from the local arts community.

In March of 2016 the band reformed in Minneapolis, Minnesota with a changing lineup based around Joshua Williamson and Matt Jorizzo. With Andrew Landazuri on drums, the trio recorded the band’s second EP, Something Darker, in the fall of 2016. Something Darker was released in February 2017, with John Bruno joining the band right after the release.
