Disaster Bird CD Release

9PM ✖ Bar ✖ Free ✖ 21+

Disaster Bird is releasing their debut record “‘til the Stars Give Up” on February 26th. This collection of songs shows the six-piece band’s range from folksy and bouncy to sweepingly epic. Husband and wife, Brian and Jessica Perry write songs that combine a sweet-and-sour folk timbre with stinging overdrive, intertwining male and female vocals, and driving rhythms. Their friends Trevor Huinker, Tim Welch, Blake Simmons, and Jim Schloemer add a chorus of harmonies as well as guitar, bass, trumpet, percussion, and shenanigans.

Brian Just Band: After releasing two contemplative folk EPs as a solo artist, Brian Just knew he needed to put together an eclectic band to reproduce the sounds for the new music he was hearing in his head. Enlisting some of the finest folk and jazz influenced talents in the Minneapolis music scene (including members of the Como Avenue Jug Band, The Mad Ripple, Tuesdays Robot and Beight), the six-piece Brian Just Band spent two years writing and recording their first full-length album If You Like To Be Alone Or If You Need To Be With Someone, which was released in May 2011.

Starfolk: The Starfolk is a melody rich, quasi-rootsy chamber pop group that rocks in front man Brian Tighe’s quintessentially ethereal way.  Tighe  fronted indie-pop darlingsThe Hang Ups in the 90′s,  currently co-fronts bittersweet girl-boy poppers The Owls, and plays lead guitar with the belovedly hush-toned Jeremy Messersmith. In The Starfolk, Tighe is on guitar and lead vocals;  joined by Allison LaBonne (The Owls, Typsy Panthre) on bass, Jacqueline Ultan (Jelloslave, Saltee, Anti-Gravity) on cello, and Stephen Ittner (The Hang Ups, The Owls) on drums.  Everyone sings.
