MN Music Summit
The Minnesota Music Coalition (MMC) showcases some of the state’s top talent as part of their 3-day music conference and festival in St. Paul, MN, bringing together artists, fans and music industry professionals from across the Upper Midwest. Including a special guest appearance by Summit keynote speaker David Lowery (Cracker, Camper Van Beethoven) and a presentation of the MN Music Champion Award. Toki Wright & Big Cats
Minneapolis based musical collaborators Toki Wright & Big Cats blend an inventive new sound that has been gaining critical acclaim. After a year and a half of recording, touring with Atmosphere and Dessa, and performing at festivals including Soundset, the songwriter/producer duo released their experimental debut album “Pangaea” on September 23rd, 2014.
The album features BJ The Chicago Kid, P.O.S., Caroline Smith, Lydia Liza of Bomba de Luz, and Eric Mayson.
Gaining attention in the Twin Cities and within the music blogosphere, St. Paul, Minnesota soul/R&B singer Ashley DuBose’s newly-found success is both appreciated and unexpected on her end. While achieving mainstream superstardom isn’t at the top if her list, spreading music with a message is.
Inspired by seeing artists on television, DuBose began seriously writing and performing music in high school. A recent college mathematics graduate, she’s turned to music to educate hopefuls on pursuing their dreams. Following a stellar performance, Soultrain.com sat down with DuBose at Minneapolis’ historic Capri Theater to learn more about her debut album Somethin’ More, her true relation to the soul genre, and why connecting with listeners through her music is most important.
